Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where do I go?  Our traditional services are held in the Sanctuary, the raised building with the steeple.  The Island Praise service is in the Lupo Fellowship Hall, the one story building between the Sanctuary and the Administrative Building.
  • What should I wear?  Wear whatever you like!  At all three services people will be wearing everything from suits and ties shorts and t-shirts.  We don't care what you wear.
  • Where should I park?  There is guest parking in front of the Administrative Building and to the right of the the Sanctuary.  You will also find handicapped accessible parking in both of these locations.
  • When are worship services held?  The two traditional services begin at 8:30 and 11:00 every Sunday morning.  Island Praise, the contemporary service, begins at 9:15 every Sunday morning.
  • What is traditional worship like?  People accustomed to traditional United Methodist worship will feel at home in either of our traditional services.  For music, we sing the great hymns of the church, accompaniment is by piano and organ, and singing is led by a choir.  Our worship is liturgical and follows the Christian year.
  • What is Island Praise like?  Island Praise is our contemporary service.  Music is projected onto a screen and singing is led by the Island Praise Band.  Songs vary from Christian contemporary classics to the song you just heard on the radio.  Feel free to grab a cup of coffee and have a seat.
  • What is First Friends?  First Friends is our fellowship time, held from 9:00-10:00 each Sunday morning.  First Friends takes place in the hall outside of the Fellowship Hall.  When weather is nice, we sometimes have First Friends outside in the Memorial Garden, between the fellowship hall building and the sanctuary building.  We have coffee, snacks, and great people to hang out with.
  • What about Sunday School?  We offer Sunday School for all ages.  Any of our greeters or staff will be happy to help you find a class.  Look for someone with a nametag and they will be glad to help you!
  • Is there an elevator? There is an elevator in the Sanctuary building, accessible through the doors under the front steps.
  • Can I bring my children?  Your children are welcome in all of our worship services!  If you prefer, we offer a nursery for children three and younger.  We also offer Wee Worship during our two traditional services. Children are free to stay for the entire service or leave worship after the children's moment.
  • What is Wee Worship?  Children ages three through first grade can leave worship after the children's moment for a teaching time called Wee Worship.  Parents can pick their children up from the Wee Worship room following worship services.  The Wee Worship room is located on the first floor of the Sanctuary building.  Your children are free to stay with you in worship if you prefer.
  • Is there a nursery?  Our nursery is located on the first floor of the Sanctuary building and available for children three and under.  Our nursery staff is trained and screened through our Safe Sanctuaries program.
  • What is Safe Sanctuaries?  Safe Sanctuaries is our program to ensure that all adults who work with children, youth, and vulnerable adults are screened and trained to ensure the safety of children, youth, and vulnerable adults.
