Pastor Charles Phillips
Pastor Charles is a native of Greer, South Carolina. He is an ordained Elder in the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church (1999). He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida, a Master of Divinity Degree from Erskine Theological Seminary, Due West, South Carolina, and a Master of Strategic Studies from US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.
He is also a graduate of Warrant Officer Aviator Flight Training, Fort Rucker, Alabama where he completed the OH-58 Kiawah Course and UH-60 Blackhawk Aviator Transition Course. Charles is married to the former Suzan Edwards and they have two adult daughters. They are also the proud grandparents of Emma May Simpson who resides in Rock Hill with her parents, Rachel and Wylie Simpson.
Charles comes gratefully to First UMC Isle of Palms with a deep appreciation for the heritage of First Church, a practical vision for the future, a passion for vital worship, and a listening heart for the leading of God’s voice. There is no place he’d rather be.
