What’s going on in the world of Wesley?

CHECK OUT THE LATEST HAPPENINGS OF THE CHARLESTON WESLEY FOUNDATION TO SEE THE WAYS GOD IS MOVING IN OUR MINISTRY.

    Wesley March Update!

God has done so much for us and with our students already, and we have only had two months of ministry in 2024! In February, we celebrated a baptism, a state-wide retreat, and over 400 student connections. We also celebrated Black History Month by visiting some of our black partner churches for Sunday morning services and ended with a visit to the International African American Museum on February 25. It was such a terrific celebration of the perseverance of the church family despite oppression, tragedy, and suppression, and it offered our students the apparent reminder that God’s steadfast love truly does endureth forever!

March is expected to be yet another promising month of ministry, however it may not be as busy! We begin with our students going on Spring Break which is much needed in their lives coming off of mid-terms. When they return, we will continue with business as usual with three exciting opportunities.

The first is Recognition Day at The Citadel for our freshmen Cadets. This day represents them surviving the trials and tribulations of freshman year (also known as Knob Year), and they are put through a rigorous series of physical tests. It is truly a daunting task, and yet they persevere! We are excited to cheer our students on the sidelines and witness their tenacity. We are also excited to celebrate them and pray over them in this joyous occasion!

The second event is our Alumni Reunion! We are looking forward to gathering again in order to catch up about life, hear about what God is continuing to do through Wesley, and continue to worship together just like when we were in college together. It is going to be a special occasion, and we are excited to see friends from years past!

The third event will be our Easter Service Weekend! Some students cannot go home for Easter; other students do not want to go home for Easter. Whatever the case: we celebrate the opportunity to spend Easter together. We will stay in the Charleston area and complete some construction projects all the while learning and remembering the Passion of Christ. We then will celebrate Easter Sunday together at both church and at our director’s home.

March will be a wonderful month for our students!

    NEEDS FOR THIS MONTH:

Our budget for 2024 is $138,000.00. This covers the expenses of ministering to all of the campuses, feeding the students, going on retreats, paying our student interns, and purchasing materials like bread and wine for Communion. A shift that has arisen due to changes in Conference funding is that $30,000 of the total $138,000 is required in order to maintain a full-time pastor at the Charleston Wesley Foundation. We are blessed to have such a wide range of supporters, but the truth is that we need more. Please prayerfully consider how you may help us in this pivotal year of ministry.

    PRAYER FOCUS FOR THIS MONTH:

Please pray for our students as they enjoy their Spring Breaks! Pray for safe travels, lots of rest, and joy. Pray for our freshmen Cadets as they prepare themselves for Recognition Day! Pray for safe travels and joy regarding our Alumni Reunion! Pray also for our Easter Service Weekend! Pray for safe work, meaningful discipleship, and a joyous celebration of Christ’s victory!

Finally, please continue to pray for our leadership as we embark on this new journey of fundraising, so that we can continue to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Charleston campuses.
