How can your high school students get involved?

As our youth ministry continues to show God’s love through acts of service, we’re offering weekly volunteer opportunities for our high school students. This is the perfect way for our teens to help those in need and enjoy fellowship with First Church youth members…while earning required service hours for school! One of our church’s outreach organizations is Beyond Our Walls, which is located in North Charleston’s Dorchester Terrace neighborhood. Along with the alarmingly high number of atrisk children, the area is known as a “food desert” because of the lack of access to nutritious food. Our youth will work with this phenomenal organization to tutor elementary students in their after-school program, help in the planning and implementation of their new community garden, as well as giving these precious children the consistent loving care that they deserve. Sign-ups for our high schoolers are currently available for one-hour shifts. Please contact Jen with any questions or ideas for additional youth volunteer experiences.

After 2 years on pause, this beloved mission is back to repair, rebuild and restore homes of the needy across South Carolina. Only 16 of the 43 camps will open this summer, so spots are extremely limited. Let Jen know immediately if your high school or college student would like to be a part of this life-changing service in mid-late July.
